Yesterday, as I locked the door, I noticed with affection the soft, frayed cuff of my brown sweatshirt. It's one of those sweatshirts that has only improved with time. It started out as a hooded pullover, bought around the time J and I were courting. It was worn during cozy winter talks and skateboarding around the neighborhood. For cooking experiments and kisses. At some point I got sick of the hood and just cut it off, turning it into a boatneck sort of thing. It's been tied around my waist during midnight runs with J, and its well-worn cotton has soaked up countless tears. My brown sweatshirt and I have been through so much. It seems fitting that after all these years it would be keeping me and my twelve-week-old unborn baby cozy on an October evening.

Congratulations on your new little one! When are you due?
Thank you. :) I'm due May 1. I'm finding all sorts of inspiration on your blog. So glad you're still blogging after all these years!
Blessings to you and the little one. :)
This may sound strange, but I thought of you this morning while I was washing dishes. It was a happy thought of you with a newborn baby, lovingly cradling it as you go about your housework. You are so beautiful, Suzanne, and I hope you know I turn to thoughts of you when I need encouragement and motivation as a homemaker. Or friend or artist or sister. I wish you the best on this journey of motherhood.
Thank you so much, Alexandra.
Susannah, That is one of the kindest things anyone has told me. Thank you sweet friend. I'm afraid my housekeeping reached an all-time low in the past year, but I am recovering now. You inspire me.
